Stay on board the Engelburg
The Engelburg is a 28-meter-long clipper from Zeeland dating back to 1912. After a rich history as a (sailing) freighter, it is now fully equipped for comfortable accommodation. We usually spend the night in nature, making us self-sufficient. Under normal use, there's more than enough water on board for a week. The entire ship offers ample headroom (over 2m) and is equipped with central heating. Solar panels and large batteries provide sufficient power for most applications (refrigerator, lights, sound, or charging a phone or laptop, for example), while a silent generator is available for larger power users such as the dishwasher, washing machine, or dryer. To explore the many small canals, we also take several smaller boats into Weerribben-Wieden National Park.
Spacious living room with open kitchen
The old cargo hold has been converted into a self-contained living space. There's a living room with an open kitchen (35m²) equipped with a television and stereo, a piano, a 5-burner gas stove, a combination oven, a refrigerator with a freezer, and a dishwasher. Cooking utensils and crockery are provided.
Bedrooms
There are three bedrooms (10-12 m²): one with a double bed and a washbasin, one with four beds, and one with two beds that can be placed separately or together. Each bedroom has ample closet space.
Bathroom, washing machine and dryer
Finally, there is a shared bathroom with shower, toilet, sink and bathtub, and a hall with toilet, washing machine and dryer.
Outside
On deck, there's plenty of space to relax in the sun, or if it gets too hot, under an awning. Almost all decks are available. On the mast deck in front of the cabin, there's a large dining table with eight outdoor chairs. The other mast deck, the foredeck, and the hatch covers are also comfortable. Only the aft deck is reserved for Joost and Evelien, who live in the cabin and ensure the ship arrives safely at its next destination.
